The Priority Scoreboard

Five priorities or fewer. One owner each. A status anyone can read in two minutes without asking. Print it, fill it in, update it once a week.

Before you start

Bring your ranked list.

Take the ranked list from your Alignment Snapshot — or whatever your team already agrees matters most. Keep it to five priorities or fewer; a scoreboard with fifteen rows is a to-do list in disguise.

Status is one of three words, nothing else: on track, at risk, or behind. Agree what each one means, in one sentence per priority, before the first update is due — otherwise status becomes a mood, and every owner grades their own homework the same way.

This week's sheet

Fill in one row per priority.

Two rules make this work. One name per row — not a team, not a department, not "sales and ops together." Update it, don't rebuild it — five minutes per owner, once a week. If it takes longer than that, the format is too complicated.

Where it lives

Anyone can read it in two minutes.

A shared doc, a whiteboard, a spreadsheet — it doesn't matter which. What matters is that every leader can read it without asking anyone where it is. A scoreboard that's easy to hide from is a scoreboard no one uses.
